Q: Can I do my own installation?

A: Yes. Installing your Medical Alert system by Personal Response is very simple. Each of our distinct medical alert systems comes with an easy-to-use and follow setup guide. If you have any questions you simply call our customer service department at 1-800-288-5965 Monday–Friday 8:00am-5:00pm EST excluding holidays and we will help walk you through the setup.

Q: How do I test my equipment and the service, and how often should I test it?

A: You should test the equipment and service right after installation and once a month thereafter. We suggest you use the day of your birth to make the testing day easy to remember.

Q: If I press the remote transmitter button or the unit emergency button by mistake, what should I do?

A: When the Personal Response operator speaks to you through the unit, just tell them you are okay and that there is no emergency.

Q: How can I change the information I originally gave Personal Response, such as phone number, responder information, etc.?

A: Your email purchase confirmation contains a Web link to update your subscriber information. This link may be used to make future updates as well. You will be asked to enter the subscriber's last name exactly as it appeared on the original order form. If you no longer have the Web link or simply wish to get help by phone, please call us toll-free at 1-800-288-5965 and give us your new information. We'll update your account.

Q: How do I refer a client or friend?

A: You can tell them to call us at 1-800-288-5965.

Q: How do I avoid monthly fees?

A: Some of our medical alert systems provide a purchase option. If selected then you'll receive your Personal Response console and pendant with a one-year factory warranty and one year of prepaid monitoring. After the initial period, if you want to continue with My Personal Response, just renew your monitoring (at a discount) and you're all set! And any time you wish to cancel, you will receive a prorated refund for any monitoring not used. Add it up! If you think you'll have your Personal Response unit for two years or more, this is the deal for you! We will even offer to buy back your equipment once you are no longer a subscriber. Troubleshooting

Q: Where do I call if I think the machine needs service?

A: Call our toll-free Customer Service line Monday–Friday 8:00am-5:00pm EST (excluding holidays) for any technical help you may need. The number is 1-800-288-5965.

Q: What if we have a power outage at home?

A: All of the Personal Response Medical Alert Systems come with a battery backup to be used in the case of a power outage. See each particular unit for the number of hours of battery backup it provides. When the power is restored, the battery will recharge.

Service

Q: Is the monitoring center available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

A: Yes, and you will always speak to an operator, not a machine. That's the Personal Response way.

Q: How far can I be from my Personal Response console and still request help?

A: In most cases it's 1000 feet but it depends on each system. See the information about each system for the distance for that particular unit.

Q: What if I can't speak when I press the emergency button?

A: The Personal Response operator will call emergency services if they get no response from you.

Q: How do I return the equipment when it's no longer needed?

A: Save the box to use to return the unit. When you're ready to return it, call our offices at 1-800-288-5965 to cancel your monitoring account, and we'll give you a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). For more information, see our Purchase Policy section.

Q: If I moved my residence, can I still use my Personal Response medical alert system?

A: Yes. Just take it with you and before you plug it in call us at 1-800-288-5965. We'll update your information and you're good to go!
